Summary:

Cooperation between Warsaw University of Technology and the University of Warsaw with the ENERIS Polbatt Group, one of 17 companies participating in the European Battery Alliance and the IPCEI (Important Project for Common European Interest) programme. The project, known as “Battery Airbus”, aims to create the conditions necessary for the creation of a European battery industry, crucial for electromobility, energy security and environmental protection.

ENERIS defining its mission as “the innovations for protection of the environment – clean air, earth and water”. The company is particularly interested in building and developing a solid Polish scientific and economic base in the area of battery industry, in close and strong cooperation between science and industry. That process can contribute to the development and growth of competitiveness of the Polish economy.

Teams of scientists from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Warsaw have been cooperating with ENERIS employees in order to prepare an effective model of activities and define the most desired research programmes.

The prepared project foresees number of activities, in particular development and implementation laboratory works using the infrastructure of CEZAMAT Centre for Advanced Materials and Technology.

Project title: Development of construction and technology for the production of miniature diagnostic devices for rapid determination of biomarkers in physiological fluids and other biological samples

Technology area: Medical biotechnology, Materials engineering

project page

Implementation period: 12.2018 – 11.2021

Budget: EUR 1,7 million

Funding mechanism: ERRF, 2014 – 2020

Summary

The main objective of the project (i.e. Development of construction and technology for the production of miniature diagnostic devices for rapid determination of biomarkers in physiological fluids and other biological samples) is to develop an innovative medical technology for fast determination of various analytes using electrochemical immune-sensors. The project is part of the civilization development trend of medical analytics, enabling rapid, sensitive and reliable diagnostics to be achieved in conditions requiring immediate results, for example in life-threatening situations due to myocardial infarction or the spread of microorganisms through the blood system. The project aims to broaden the scope of existing research, increase the capacity of biomarkers and pathogens, and use of the results to develop a fully functioning rapid and mobile diagnostic tool.
